Essays · same practice, different tools

Journal

Short pieces about the thing under the things. Written between jobs, usually with tea.

  1. Same practice, different tools

Ten careful holes in tile. A staff on fire. Same hands.

  2. The labor is the teaching

There's an old idea that a carpenter can also be a teacher. I've stopped treating those as two careers.

  3. What the reps actually teach you

I said something out loud to myself a while back, standing outside for four minutes between fire spinning and the next round of karaoke. It's still true.
